BEFORE PLACING A RESERVATION OR DEPOSIT, PLEASE READ FIRST:

RESERVATIONS:

Thank you for your interest in Story Tails Farm registered Nigerian Dwarf goats in South Texas! If you would like to place a reservation, please feel free to fill out our reservation form to be on our wait list. Currently, we are only taking reservations via the reservation form on our website, and will not accept a reservation through social media.  This will help keep all our reservations in one place and in order by date.

 

2024 KID RESERVATION FORM

 

To be on our wait list is free until kids are born. Once I reach out to you via your preferred method, I will give you 24 hours to decide if you want to reserve the kid born or if you would like to pass. If you wish to reserve the kid, a deposit will be required within 24 hours of being notified to hold said kid of your choice until kid is weaned and ready for pick up. If you choose to pass, please know there are no hard feelings, but I do request you inform me ASAP of your refusal so I can proceed to the next person in line. If I do not hear from you within the 24 hours, I will automatically move on to the next person in line, if any. Any unreserved kids will go on our website and Facebook page and will then be first come, first serve.

 

Please know, I do reserve the right to retain ANY kids born at any time. Rarely do I ever decide to keep a kid AFTER a deposit has been paid. However, should something happen to the sibling I have chosen to retain, or something happens to the parents, I may wish to keep the kid with a deposit instead. IF that were to happen, you will be notified immediately to discuss the following options:

• Choice of another available kid (By this I mean a kid that is not retained or does not have a deposit on it already)

• If another kid is not available, your deposit can be rolled over to the following year for first choice kid, after keeper kids have been selected. 

• Refund of your deposit (at our discretion)

No kid(s) will be held without a deposit and farm terms form; period, no exceptions! Once a deposit is paid, should YOU decide you no longer want the kid(s), any money paid will NOT be refunded. Please be sure you are willing to commit to the care, time, money, and responsibility it takes to own goats before placing a deposit. Also, please know we can not HOLD a goat while you discuss with your spouse, family, parents, roommate etc. Please figure this out BEFORE contacting me as all info needed is on our website. If it is not, i'll gladly help you in any way that I can. If in the unfortunate event the kid passes away before leaving my farm, your deposit WILL be refunded or rolled over, your choice!

What's required to hold your choice of kid until weaning:

We have unfortunately had to increase our deposit amount due to the increasing cost of feed and hay while they are still in our care. All deposits will go towards the final cost of the animal at pick up and are non refundable should you back out for any reason. We accept Venmo, sent by "friends", as our preferred method. PayPal by "friends and family" OR pay the % fee is also accepted (deposits sent by PayPal without the % fee will be added on to the remaining balance). Cash is accepted at pick up only. No checks, money orders, or payment plans  of any kind will be accepted. Animal must be paid in FULL before leaving our premises. This will include the cost of the animal, health certificates, any states required tests, gas required to transport, crates for shipping, etc. 

 

• A non refundable deposit of $200 for ADGA registered buck and/or doe kids

• A non refundable deposit of $75 for pet wethers.

• A farm/buyer terms form filled out for all new Story Tails Farm buyers

Goats are HERD animals and MUST have a goat buddy. No goats will be sold as singles unless you already own goats of the same age/sex/size. Goats travel and transition better in PAIRS or more.

Story Tails Farm does not and can not guarantee height, show wins, LA scores, or production of any animal. Because of the stress that goes along with moving to a new property, once the animal leaves our possession, we make no guarantee of their health as we have no control over someone else's management, weather, feeding procedures, facilities, or accidents etc. We do our BEST to help minimize stress for the goats when its time to go to their new home, but hey, stuff happens that is our of our control! Should you need it, please feel free to contact me if you have a question regarding your new kid(s), their feeding, health, general questions once they get home. If an animal becomes ill while in our care, Story Tails Farm will provide treatment needed at no additional cost to you that is within our financial means. We do have the right to make decisions based on the animal's well being and best interest. This may result in a later pick up date as we do not release any sick/injured animals! Should this happen, you will be notified and updated on the kid.

When will your kid be ready for pick up:

• Does are weaned anywhere between 12 to 14 weeks of age, UP TO 16 weeks at OUR discretion. 

• Bucks are weaned anywhere between 9-10 weeks of age, and MUST be picked up by 10 weeks old before extra care charges apply. 

• Wethers are weaned the same as bucks. If staying here until old enough to band, at 10-14 weeks, please note we no longer offer discounts for them due to the extra feed/hay, time, and care they require. Wethers can leave as early 9-10 weeks if having a vet surgically castrate them at 5-6 months of age.

 

Farm pick ups:

Once it is time to pick your goat up and a mutual agreed upon date/time has been set, please be sure to communicate with me if you are going to be late or can't come for pick up. We understand things happen, but please let us know ASAP if you are unable to come on the day we scheduled. We can reschedule once, however, this will result in extra care charges for the feed/hay and management your goat will require. If this happens a minimum of $20 per goat a week will be applied to the final cost of the goat(s) and MUST be paid before pick up. If not picked up within 30 days of original agreed upon date or multiple cancellations occur, sale will be forfeited and all future sales will be subject to be paid in full up front OR we hold the right to refuse any sales at our discretion.

Note about transport:

We have had kids ground transported to several states through out the Continental US! We work with very few trusted ground transporters and can make a recommendation on someone that we trust and have used before. Please know their prices for transport is SEPARATE from our costs and we have no control over what they charge. Please keep this in mind! If purchasing from out of state, it is required by LAW that all animals are accompanied by a CVI (Certificate of Veterinary Inspection).

• CVI's are $75 per goat from our vet, plus the gas to and from to get to them as they are an hour drive 1 way.

If having a kid delivered to you by transport, please line this up with them ASAP. Kids left here for weeks and weeks after being weaned waiting for a transporter will result in an extra fee for care, feed/hay, and upkeep (see above). This must be paid for before leaving our farm. Transporters must come to us or CLOSE to us for this to work, several transporters do NOT come this far South in TX and mainly pick up near Dallas. This is a 6-7 hour ONE WAY trip for us depending on traffic along the way. If wanting to use these transporters ONLY, there will be a hefty fee for time away from farm/gas/hotel if needed.

Because of the way airlines have been lately, we are not offering air transport at this time if we can help it. 

​

In spring of 2022 we offered to do our own transport for OUR goats only within TX for those that are not local. We have found that a lot of buyers are in North Tx and cant make the trip themselves. This will also guarantee your kids wont be exposed to other goats from other farms in transport. If we have enough people needing transport around TX, we may come up with a route to deliver weaned kids and meet folks along the route for a fee. This would be on the weekend, and MUST meet at location along the route at the time provided. We will polish out the details should this be something we can continue to do.
